Wooden Toys

For one of the most durable, long-lasting and high potential materials, pick wooden toys. Since they are virtually indestructible, they can withstand any abuse that a child can dispense. This also means that your children can pass them onto their own children someday. The fact that they will stand the test of time makes them an environmentally cordial and responsible choice. Because they are a natural material, they can be painted if the primary paint starts to chip or if you just want to change the color.

Wooden toys are not commercial vehicles for a movie or a bistro that will be soon be forgotten. Instead, they are timeless educational vehicles that will never go out of favor. With their straightforward forms and engaging colors, wooden toys attract the attentiveness of children and allow them to use their own imagination, creativity and skill set when playing. While excellent for any age, they are especially good for very small children because there are not a lot of tiny parts that will break and become a potential choking hazard. Someone else advantage is that they do not need batteries.

Developmental toys, like building blocks, puzzles and musical instruments, aid children in developing their skill sets. They put into motion things like hand and eye coordination, spatial awareness, shape recognition, balance, color awareness, problem solving skills and motor skills. The wooden toys can be highly simple, such as a board with three different shapes that fit into exact holes, or they can be more complex, like an intricate maze where the child must navigate from starting to end.
